Blues at the Bulgarian Club

Come join us for Blues Dancing at the Bulgarian Macedonian National Cultural and Educational and Cultural Center. Every second Friday of the month there will be a lesson from 8:00 til 9:00 and Dj's from 9:00 til Midnight. Admission is only $8.00 ($6.00 for students).

Partners are not needed - there are plenty of people looking to dance. The dancers range from "first timer's" to "hardened veterans," but no will turn you down. Everyone knows that if no one dances with the newcomers, pretty soon there will be no one to dance with.

The Bulgarian club offers a full service bar, and there are plenty of tables sit and watch from, but we bet that our DJ's will keep you dancing. If you want regular blues dances in Pittsburgh, please come out for this dance.

After Hours Blues

Hey night owls, there's late night blues dancing at Wightman School after the Swing City dance on every First Saturday. Midnight til Two is the best time for blues. As the song says "Yesterday's gone and tommorw is blind..." and who know what can happen after hours. The best in blues - from Sidney Bechet to Chris Thomas King (and maybe a little Lady GaGa too). Admission is free, but if you can, put a couple of bucks in the "hat," so that we can pay our bills.

How do you dance to blues? Any way you like. The blues are the foundation of most dance traditions - from the Charleston and Lindy Hop, through Big Band Swing and the NY Hustle to West Coast Swing. Use your dance moves to stretch out to the blues. An intro lesson will give you a basic understanding or blues styling that you can use with the dancing you already know.

The February 12, 2010 dance is cancelled due to bad roads and limited parking. See you next moth at Steen City Blues Festival
